Great New Series Starts

It a great read. It's not a Harry Potter clone as some reviewers state.Yes, it's in a Wizard boarding school and comparisons are expected. There are some similarities but many more differences. It stands on it's own. The characters are well crafted and the plot is tighter than Rowling's. I can't wait for the next installment and hope it's a long running series!

THIS book started off good and kept me interested. I was sorry to see it come to a close. This series to me and remember it's my opinion that it is going to be a series as good as Harry Potter's or maybe better. I read these types of books to be able to talk to my great-grandchildren about certain books and to read with them. It'll also make good birthday and Christmas gifts.

I was torn on whether to rate the book 4 starts or 5. I chose 4 stars for two reasons: While it is different, there are still a lot of factors that are similar to Harry Potter. The first several chapters I had trouble getting into the story because my brain kept making comparisons to the Harry Potter series, if you are a Potterhead this may be extremely annoying.
The second reason was that while the story was really good (although not 100% solid but forgivable) the character development was shaky, specially for the secondary characters.
Despite getting annoyed and frustrated during the first half of the book, by the end I was thoroughly enjoying it and would read the next installment.
