Francisco Laguna Correa creci� en el centro de la Ciudad de M�xico durante los ochentas. La Huelga General de la UNAM de 1999 hizo que interrumpiera sus estudios en la Prepa 3, pero en lugar de unirse a los huelguistas, se fue a vivir a Ciudad Hidalgo, Michoac�n, donde algunas veces trabaj� recogiendo le�a, vendiendo abarrotes en un tianguis y cargando pacas de avena. En Michoac�n, cobr� consciencia social de las dificultades vitales y econ�micas que viven los trabajadores del campo mexicano y los inmigrantes mexicanos en Estados Unidos. En 2001, entr� a estudiar a la Universidad Nacional Aut�noma de M�xico (UNAM), en CU, pero dej� la carrera de Lengua y Literaturas Hisp�nicas para redactar informes para Volkswagen por cuarenta pesos al d�a. La precariedad laboral y el desencanto por la UNAM lo obligaron a emigrar fuera del Distrito Federal y posteriormente fuera de M�xico. Tras varios a�os de ejercer oficios diversos en M�xico, Europa y Estados Unidos, termin� sus estudios de licenciatura en la Portland State University. En Portland, Oreg�n, trabaj� en el distrito escolar como maestro de ingl�s como segunda lengua (ESL) con ni�os migrantes de k�nder y primaria. Despu�s estudi� tres maestr�as y en 2016 recibi� el t�tulo de doctor (Ph.D.) por parte de la University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Ha sido docente y becario en la University of Pittsburgh, y en la actualidad es profesor visitante en High Point University. Vive en la ciudad de High Point junto a su esposa Tessa, quien tambi�n es docente universitaria. Cuando no escribe, le gusta sembrar betabeles y hierbas de olor.

Compr� el libro por curiosidad, luego me di cuenta de que es la historia de un inmigrante joven que viaja a USA sin papeles como miles o millones de personas migrantes hacen todos los a�os, es una historia triste y desesperante porque es muy cierta, al menos para la gente que conoce la realidad de los migrantes. Recomiendo el libro porque se lee r�pido y tiene mucha emoci�n.

About the Author
Larry Hama is a writer, penciller, editor, and actor who has worked in comics, television, and film. He is best known for his work as the writer of Marvel’s GI Joe and Wolverine comics, in the 1980s and 1990s, respectively. He has also written, edited, or drawn for The Avengers, Nth Man, The ’Nam, Conan, Batman, Wonder Woman, Bizarre Adventures, X-Men, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and dozens more. A little Tony Stark masterpiece

Pleasingly surprised by this book - I thought it might be a kiddie product, but it's actually a really cool illustrated book (with a lot of tip-ins and pull-outs and surprise pop-ups) for any Marvel fan. Entertainingly written (as if Tony Stark himself were writing it) and very uplifting - it has a positive message for both kids and adults. I think kids will enjoy it a lot (despite fleeting reference to Tony's notorious string of girlfriends...but it's all very safe and fluffy) and adult Marvel fans will get a kick out of it, too. It's the Tony of the comics, rather than the movies, but there are definitely crossover moments! A beautifully illustrated, craftily assembled and cleverly written keepsake for any Tony Stark/Iron Man fan.

Wonderful for the younguns!

Purchased it for my preschooler nephew and he loved it. I don't think he's old enough to appreciate all the bonus inserts that added to the authenticity of content but all of the adults surely did! Great gift for a youngish person who is just getting into Iron man.

Lots of info scattered all over the place

This book has TONS of information but good luck finding it.

Man, was I excited to get this book. Finally, a know-how book with enough info to help me build whatever I want and sort through the notation! Right?

Imagine my disappointment when I opened the book expecting to find a chart defining all the terms within the first few pages, and I couldn't find it. Where is it? I start skimming the text and I see those letters with subscripts scattered here and there like annoying gray dandelion balls in the front yard. So I keep flipping backward, expecting to see them defined somewhere. Nope... nope... wait... there's some of them... but where is Q? And what is f_s? Flipping... flipping... and now I'm on the first page in Chapter 0 and I haven't found a definition for Q. He talks about it, but never defines it. So I go for the index. Oh wait... there IS no index. But there is a bunch of annoying advertisements in the back like the car magazines I read every month. So I check the table of contents - finally after a few minutes I find Q defined somewhere around page 24 in Chapter 1, but he mentions it repeatedly before then.

There are two rules I've learned about technical writing:

1) Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you told them.

2) Re-invent the wheel so your readers don't have to.

Vance Dickason must have lost these rules of thumb in the piles of papers he's sure to have on his desk. If he would just spend some time taking more pictures, drawing more basic diagrams, and placing easy to read tables at the early parts of chapters, this book would be fantastic! But in the meantime, be prepared to read for a long time.

Not for Beginners - Some Gems for Enthusiasts and Pro's

Warning: This book is not for beginners. Hard core hobbyists or speaker design professionals may find some useful models, empirical studies and references in this book. For the beginner, the minimum vital data needed to design and build a speaker is interwoven in to a jumble of esoteric empirical tests and computer simulations. For the more experienced speaker builder, the depth of this book is great and the footnote references are very complete. While the breadth is great, the depth of technical explanation for fundamental speaker enclosure modeling physics was a lacking. I guess I need to buy another book or research the footnotes myself.

This book could be a lot better with some solid editing. The writing - for the most part - is clear, but there are sections that are hard to read and there are some errors. The fonts are too small (many of the subscripts are illegible). The graphics are horrible. The book has over 100 frequency domain plots (developed with speaker CAD packages), which are illegible and poorly labeled. Most of the graphics are nowhere near the text.

I give this book two stars because of the breadth and the references, but it's no cookbook. You won't be able to look up a recipe and cook up a speaker.
